About the cause
Let's face it, there's no such thing as a fun run... What this is, is a run for a great charity which I believe gets very little exposure, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Couple of quick facts:
2/10 people diagnosed with brain cancer will survive
Brain cancer kills more children than any other disease
Treatment for this type of cancer costs more per person than any other type of cancer and only receives a small amount of government funding.
Aside from all this, this cause means a lot to me and a very important person in my life who will also be running alongside me (if I can keep up), Cait who lost her Father to brain cancer a few years ago. The effect this can have on loved ones is immense due to the nature of the illness as it can often go undetected as symptoms can be mistaken for other ailments.
For those of you who know me, you know how much I hate a walk on the on the best of days, let a lone a 10km run!
The last organised run I participated in was roughly 20 years ago, at the age of 8 and that was an 800m circuit... vivid memories of my life (all 8 years of it) flashing before my eyes when I hit the 200m mark....
So where will the money go....
All money donated will go towards education on early detection, clinical trials for patients and potentially genetic sequencing of a patients tumour which will assist in choosing the right treatment plan for that individual (if the fundraising goal is reached).
All donations are of course tax deductible and very much appreciated!
